On Saturday 7th October as part of the Mersey Basin Weekend Todmorden Angling Society are having a junior 'Open Match' at Queen Street Mill,Harle Syke, Burnley.

Draw up to 8:30 am Fish 9:30am to 1:30pm.

There will be two sections U13 and U17.
There will be trophies and prizes for top three in each section.

Rules for the match.

Plumbing the depth and positioning of keep nets before 'all in' allowed.
Mixing of groundbait before 'all in' allowed. Max ½ lb dry weight for match.
No groundbaiting with boillies.
Environment Agency rod licence required.
No leaving your peg once match has started except for call of nature.
Juniors under 13 may have a little help with landing and unhooking of fish, but strictly no other help allowed.
Parents may sit with their offspring throughout the match but must sit behind the entrant ( or far enough away to ensure temptation to help is minimised).
Trout, Minnows and sticklebacks do not count.
No bloodworm or joker.

Entrance £5.

Presentation of prizes by Peter Pike M.P. for Burnley on the bank at 2:00pm approx.

The recent open match on the Rochdale canal was fished on Lanebottom,Sandersons and White House sections by 38 anglers. Weights were made up of Carp and Skimmer Bream - Winner fish peg 410 on Lanebottom, with 2nd and 3rd on White House.

It has come to the attention of the committee that seniors are fishing match lengths on the day of junior matches. All members are reminded that NO ONE is allowed to pleasure fish match lengths on the day of a match until the match is over.

 

The second trip to Kings Pool atr Cannock proved even more successful than the first, with the top three anglers weighing in a massive 200lb of Carp, Tench and Bream.
