This coming Sunday 31st August is the committee/officials match at Cliviger. Draw is at Cliviger top pond up to 8:30 am. Fish 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. £5 with 100% payout.
Next Sunday 7th September there is a trophy match at Portsmouth Reservoir. Draw up to 8:00 am. Fish 8:30 to 1:00 pm. Ring 01706-816319 or 01706-872812 to book on.

This evening Friday 29th August we have a junior match on the Library section of the Rochdale canal. Draw up to 6:00 pm. fish 6:45 to 8:45. £1 entry. Members only.
Next Saturday 6th September is the last junior match ( until the Xmas match ) on Croft. Draw at Croft up to 1:15 pm. Fish 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. £1 entry. Members only.
During the last month quite a few of our members have beentargets for youths throwing stones, half bricks, eggs, and nectarines from Longfield Road direction. Members have fishing short section between Rochdale Rd , and Dale St when they have been pelted, if anybody knows who is acting in this irresponsible manner they should give the name/addresses of the culprits to the police (01706-812104 or 01422-318197)
Waters are fishing brilliantly at the moment, for all species of fish.
Lower Town House has been 're-done' over the summer with islands improved, manure/slit spread between the pegs, and reeds/iris, and water lilies planted. Town House is now full of fry. Stock fish will be introduced during the winter and the water will be open for fishing to members sometime in 2004.
Members are reminded that they may not use keepnets on Queen St Mill, or Lane Bottom section of Rochdale canal until further notice.

This Monday 25th August is the Final of the Tuesday league. Winner and runner-up from each match entitled to fish this one.

Day ticket anglers may not use keepnets at all, neither can they use 2 rods at once.
We have had complaints of anglers answering the call of nature at Grove lodge, please be descreet or local residents will call the police. We have also had complaints about cars parking in front of Grove Cottages, PLEASE USE THE CAR PARK provided, and allow the local residents to sleep in peace, no one likes to be woken at 5:00 am by car doors being slammed.

This Sunday 10th August is the 'OPEN TO ALL' angling taster day for anybody who would like to try angling.All they have to do is come along to Salford Way Todmorden (Library section of Rochdale canal), and they will be shown how to fish by a N.F.A. trained coach. Fishing tackle, bait, and all licences will be provided, and there is NO CHARGE. How mush tuition you get depends on how many turn up. The environment Agency will be dishing out 'freebies' to all participants. Please come along and try fishing, it might be just the pastime you have been looking for.

The N.F.A. north-east region will be holding the delegates only match at Todmorden on Saturday 9th August, on Tench length/ Ornamental sections of the Rochdale canal. Pleasure anglers PLEASE KEEP CLEAR.
Most of our waters continue to fish well, but serious concerns have been raised about Lanebottom section of the Rochdale canal, some sort of Carp disease has been brought in on nets, and we have had no choice other than to ban keepnets on lanebottom until further notice we don't want to infect our other waters.
Anybody catching an infected Carp must inform the E.A. phone number in rule book.

The junior free tutoring session open to anybody wishing to try angling is on the canal, Library section, please turn up at Salford Industrial Estate if you would like to try fishing. N.F.A. coaches will be on the bank ready to show you how to fish. No tackle, rod , or club licence needed, and no charge will be made. If you want to just improve your skills please come along, and be trained. The Environment Agency will be on hand dishing out freebies.

Sundays open match was nearly a record breaker, with the winner landing no
fewer than 8 carp from Lanebottom, runner up had 10 Bream on Summit
section.
