All bar two contestants had to cut and remove ice upto 1" thick from their drawn swims in the latest winter open match fished at Smithybridge on 21st January. 28 fished with an incredible 20 catching fish on the day

In the circumstances ( iced over ) this was a good result on a hard day.
Saturday 10th Febuary is the day chosen to do work at Lower Town House lodge. The water level will be lowered prior to this date to enable netting to take place, in order to establish current levels of fish stocks. At least six volounteers needed to do this work. Manure will also be spread around the lodge and planting will be carried out. Please turn up at Town House at 9:00am with waders if you have them

This society does not give a general concession to disabled anglers, the only disabled who qualiify for half-price membership are wheelchair bound and/or limbless disabled.

Day tickets are available for some of our waters at £3 senior or £1.50 junior, but must be purchased in advance. If you enter any of our sites with fishing tackle without a day ticket or membership you will be treated as a poacher.
There will be a working party at Lower Town House on Saturday 10th Feb at 9:00 am. Reed/Iris will be planted, manure will be spread, but first the water will be netted to see whats in.

Membership is now open from local tackle shops or by post from A.Crossley, see subs for more details. Year 2000 membership cards have now expired - no fishing our waters until you have a new (2001) card. The number of bailifs has beed doubled and action will be taken against poachers.
There will be a working party at lower Town House to net the water in an attempt to establish how many and the species of fish stocks. The water level will be lowered by 50 - 60 % to allow netting to take place and volunteers ( complete with cheat waders if poss) should meet a the water at (:00 am on Saturday 10th February ( or 24th if frozen) Manure will be spread and water plants will be planted. Quite a good number of volunteers will be needed if this project is to be successful.

Town House is to be netted in February to see what remains of the fish stocks, at this time manure will be spread and planting done. Any member wanting to help please attend February committee meeting ( 7th Febuary ) Hollins Inn, Walsden commencing a 7:30 pm.
A good amount of stock fish are on order with Carp, Tench, Crucians, Gudgeon, Ide, Perch, Chub, Bream, and a few Barbel to be stocked. Queen St Mill has already been stocked with over 100lb of Carp and Tench.
