Town House fishery has been closed, not just for foot and mouth, but for a rethink about the design of the fishery, and also to enable manure to be added and planting to be carried out. Fish will be moved to Croft when we regain access to the water to do the work, restocking will be carried out next winter.

A new event for members only for this year is the night match on Lanebottom on Friday 15th June, draw upto 8:30pm fish 9:00pm to 6:00am £5 all in.
Junior coaching started on 18th March and will continue every Sunday on the Canal ( except 27th May, 29th July and 9th Sept) meet Salford ind est by canal at 1:00pm, fish upto 4:00pm. Ring out N.F.A. qualified coach for full details on 01706 817232.

The most recent open match was fished at Todmorden ( Sewage / Station House sections ) by 31 anglers. Fishing was expected to be good on what was quite a warm day - but it was poorResult
Next open match is at Smithybridge on Sunday 8th April. draw up to 8:30 am. Fish 10:00am to 3:00pm £12 all in. Ring Richard on 01706 290642 to book on. Two more follow on 15th April and 29 April.
The juniors start their matches on 2nd June at New Mill Dam. Junior tutoring sessions have now started on Sundays, meet Library section of canal at 1:00pm fish upto 4:00pm. Ring our N.F.A. tutor for further detailson 01706 817232
Waters temporarily unavailable owing to precautionary measures to help prevent the spread of foot and mouth are Portsmouth Res, Whiteley Knowles, Lower Town House, Croft Head, Walsden Printing Co. All other waters remain open so long as anglers keep to the bankside. NO ACCESS THROUGH FIELDS. Day tickets are still availale for Grove Lodge and Cliviger fishponds, but you MUST buy your ticket in advance ie before entering site with fishing tackle - otherwise DOUBLE will be charged. Buy your ticket from local tackle shops or from Monarch garage ( Walk Mill, Cliviger ), or Roundhouse Newsagents (Littleborough). These day tickets are also valid for the canal through Littleborough and Rochdale. £3 senior £1.50 junior.
Stock fish are on order for delivery late March.

The netting of Lower Town House was effected onSaturday 24th February in icy conditions very few fish were found and it has been decided to move the fish (as soon as possible ) to Croft and stock the canal with the fish on order for Town House when they come. Town House will therefore be closed to angling for at least 12 months with islands being enlarged manure spread and planting of reeds, iris and lilies carried out.The water will be restocked once weeds have grown and food chain established for fish to thrive.
The next open match in on 8th April at Smithybridge - ring 01706 290642 for a peg.
Th foot and mouth disease has caused some of our waters to be closed until further notice.
