Membership for the Society is now open for next year. Any angler wishing to join now ( cards available in shops 2nd week in December). will NOT have to pay the £10 joining fee, providing you do it by 31-01-2001 at latest.

The Annual General Meeting was attended by 23 members last Wednesday at the Hollins Inn. Officers for 2001 are as follows:-

Twelve baliffs were appointed with at lease tow or three to cover the Rochdale canal at Littleborough, Rochdale, and Casleton. Anglers have been fishing these sections without paying and it should be noted that non-payment in advance for a day ticket ( or buying a T.A.S. membership) is not an option. Bailiffs will be out on the bank and those fishing without written consent of the Society will be charged double. Rod licences will also be checked.

Proposals discused included raising senior subs by £1 to £26- tish as carried unanimously. A proposal to waive the entry fee for new senior members until 31-01-2001 was also carried. A proposal to increase junior subs by 50p was thrown out.

Work has now started at Summit West on the Rochdale canal through to Manchester.

The society will net Lower Townhouse to find out what stocks of fish are now present, planting and manuring will be done at the same time.fish stocks will be ordered for our stillwaters for introduction in mid March 2001

The Todmorden leg of the pennine winter league was fished by 96 anglers on the Rochdale cana; below Todmorden, weights were reasonable with the winner latching onto a shoal of Bream on Station House for a round 9lb

Tickets for the Grand Xmas Match are now available from Rochdale Angling Centre, Tight Lines Shaw, Todmorden Angling Center, Macks Burnley. Tickets cost £8 senior(inc pool) or £4 junior with price including pie chips and peas at the Hollins Inn after the match. Christine McCafferty M.P. for Calderdale will present the trophies.

During the winter Town House Lodge will be netted to see what remains of the stock fish we introduced over the last two winters - watch this space for details.

Next Wednesday (8th November) is the Society`s Annual General Meeting for all this years members at the Hollins Inn, Walsden, Todmorden, starting at 7:30pm prompt. All officials and committee are up for re-election, and 'new blood' is urgently needed. Proposals to vote on at the meeting include increasing subs by £1 senior and 50p conncession, also allowing new senior members to join up to 31/01/2001  without pying an entry fee. Lets see a good attendance at thes meeting. Bailiffs are needed for all society waters but especially the Rochdale canal at Littleborough, Rochdale and Casleton.

The annual Christmas match is on Sunday 17th December with fishing on the Rochdale canal for members only at Smithy Bridge. The draw ia at the Hollins Inn up to 9:00am with fishing from 10:00am to 1:00pm, all who fish will win a prize. The presentation of the junior trophies and senior replicas will be carried out by Chris Mc Cafferty M.P. for Calderdale at £:00pm back at the Hollins Inn, and match prizes will be presented after the trophies. There is a special section in this match for juniors. Tickets are now available from Macks Burnley, Todmorden Angling shop, Tight Lines Shaw,and Rochdale Angling Centre, at £8 senior inc pie chips & peas and £4 pool or £4 junior inc food. Get your ticket now.

The British Waterways Board (newowners of the Rochdale canal) are just starting to do work on restorationof the canal from Summit and procceding towards Littleborough. If necessary to facilitate work fish will be moved upstream for safety.

Membership of Todmorden Angling Society covers the calendar year with next years licences available approx mid December. Waters available include 13.5 miles of Rochdale canal from Callis through Todmorden, Littleborough, Rochdale to Casleton. We also have available to members the following still waters: Whiteley Knowles res, New Mill dam, Croft Head fishery, Lower Town House fishery, Walsden Printing Co lodges(2), Grove Lodge, Queen St Mil lodge, Cliviger fish ponds(2), and Portsmouth res. The river Calder in Todmorden is also available to members
