The society has increased the price of a day ticket from £3 to £4 to take
effect from early 2003, day tickets have not increased in price for approx 8
years. Day tickets can be bought prior to entering any
of our sites with fishing tackle for Cliviger fish ponds Croft
Head, and Grove Lodge. Get your ticket inadvance from any of our tackle shop
outlets, or from Monarch Garage, Walk Mill, Cliviger, or The Round House
Newsagents, Littleborough. Barbless or whisker barb only, one rod only, and
keepnets not allowed.
We have increased subs for the first time in 3 years,
and hope to kep subs at this level for at least 3 years.

Next year we hace open matches, junior matches, Tuesday evening matches, and the return of the Sunday Trophy Matches ( which will be fished on some of our ponds).
Tickets are now in shops , Macks Burnley, Rochdale Angling,Tight Lines, and Fish a'mania for the Grand Xmas Match on the Rochdale canal on Sunday 8th December. Draw Hollins Inn up to 9:00 am. Fish 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. £8 senior £4 junior including Pie Chips & Peas back at the Hollins Inn. Senior price includes £4 pool. All entrants will receive a prize. Junior trophies will be presented by Chris McCafferty M.P. for Calderdaleat 3:00 pm with match prizes distrubuted at 3:45 pm. Come along and have a good day out.

The A.G.M. held at the Hollins Inn was reasonably well attended with 'new' officials as follows:-

We also have two volunteers to run the Sunday Trophy matches again, Andrew Crossley and Wilf Doyle. These matches will be on our ponds, during the summer months.

New cards for next year will be in our usual outlets by mid December, with any senior wishing to renew or join for the first time just paying £30 before 31/01/2003, after this time an additional £10 joining fee must be paid, total = £40. Still onlt 77p per week. We sincerely hope to keep subs at this price for the next two years at least, they have not risen for the last two years.
Tickets for the xmas match on 8th December are now available from Macks Burnley, Rochdale Angling, Tight Lines Shaw, Fisha`mania. £8 senior £4 junior. Chris McCafferty M.P. for Calderdale will present the junior trophies.

Next Wednesdays ( 13th November ) A.G.M. at the Hollins Inn, Walsden at 7:30 pm will discuss and vote on a proposal to allow only barbless hooks, it will also discuss proposals to increase subs to £30, and also impliment a one off £5 stocking fund levy. There are other various proposals including one to ban juniors fishing Grove Lodge unless accompanied by an adult. All committee and officials are up for re-election, but we allways need 'new blood' to help run the society. We need a child protection officer and a junior match organiser, and plenty water baliffs. All proposers and seconders MUST attend the A.G.M and members who wish to attend must be 2002 members. Anybody wishing to pay next years subs may do so at the meeting, but may not vote unless they were also a member in 2002.
The annual Grand Xmas Match ( for members only ) will be held on the Rochdale canal (Library - Shaw Wood sections) on Sunday 8th December 2002. Draw at the Hollins Inn, up to 9:00 am. Fish 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. This match will have two sections, seniors and juniors U16. The match is open to members only and is 'all ticket', with tickets now available from Fish a mania - Sowerby Bridge, Macks - Burnley, Tight Lines - Shaw, and Rochdale Angling. Tickets cost £8 senior (including pie chips & peas,and £4 pool) or £4 junior ( including pie chips & peas), after the match the food will be served at the Hollins Inn after which the junior tropies will be presented to all the 2002 junior match winners(about 3:00 pm). At about 4:00pm the prizes for the match will be awarded. Get your ticket now and lets have a good turnout.

The Pennine Winter League is being fished by 17 teams of 6 from all over the
region. On Saturday 19 October there was a practice match at Todmorden fished by
33 of the winter league entrants. The canal fished quite well on what was a
cold, fine quite sunny day.
Result
Winner came from Shaw Wood section with 2,3,4 from Victoria Terrace.
Next Wednesday 6th November is the committee meeting at 7:30 pm followed by the match meeting at 9:00 pm ( when all the matches for 2003 will be decided- times venues dates etc).
The A.G.M. is the following Wednesday (13th November) at 7:30 pm at the Hollins Inn Walsden. All officials , committee will be up for re-election, so if you want to get involved with runnig the society please come along and offer your services. Proposals will be up for discussion including banning the use of barbed hooks, raising subs to £30 p.a. and imposing an optional £5 additional payment to create a stocking fund, with all those who contribute being entered into a free draw for a good prize. Also up for discussion is a proposal to make juniors fishing Grove lodge be accompanied by a senior at all times when fishing.
