The A.G.M. was once again very poorly attended with only 17 members bothering
to turn up. A proposal to ban keepnets ( January to June only) was defeated, but
a proposal to allow teenagers reduced rate membership was carried unanimously.
Subs for 2004 as follows:

This ensures you do not have to pay teh entry fee for 5 years and also 'inflation proofs' you against future rises in subs. Send cheque to above address with a S.A.E.
Tickets for our Grand Xmas Match are now on sale at £10 senior (inc pool), £5 junior including pie,chips & peas in the Hollins Inn after the match. The draw is at the Hollins in upto 9:00 am. Fish 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. All trophy winners will be presented with their trophies and the match prizes will be presented 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Juniors have their own match , but meet up with seniors in the Hollins after the match.
The requested one-off payment of £5 for additional stock fish has raised £250 so far, this will not buy a lot of fish. All those who paid will go in to the hat at the Xmas match on 14th December. The winner will get a 5 year membership 2004-2008.

We have a special one-off 5 year membership currently on offer for anybody who wishes to 'inflation proff' their membership, avoid paying the entry fee, and have their membership card sent out by post each December for 5 years. Please send a cheque for £150 to Andrew Crossley, Ticket Secretary, T.A.S, 296 Bacup Rd, Cloughfoot, Todmorden. before 31-01-2004 and you will be sent new cardss for each year 2004-2008 by post. Please enclose a S.A.E for the return of your card.
Membership cards for 2004 will be sent out in the middle of December or will be available for purchase at our tackle shop outlets from mid December.
Tickets for the members only 'Grand Xmas Match' are now on sale. £10 senior inc pool or £5 junior. The match is on Sunday 14th December. Draw Hollins Inn up to 9:00 am ( bacon butties available ). Fish 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Summit downwards. After the match junior & senior trophies will be presented, the match prises will then be presented. All entrants receive a prize with junior having their own section in the match/prizes.
The optional contribution of £5 to our 'Stocking fund' has raised approx £250 so far, its not too late to make this payment. sSend a cheque to the ticket secretary and your name will be included in the draw for a free 5 year membership, drawn at the xmas match.

A lot of maintainance work is to be carried out on the Rochdale canal over the winter. We have no details yet, but boat stoppages ( obtained form th B.W.B.'s boat stopping programme October 2003 - April 2004) have been included as follows:
Members should be vigilant, and if they see any sections with water levels down to such an extent that fish may suffer ( especially if we have a cold snap where the canal ices over ). You should phone B.W.B. freephone canals or 0161 8195847 or 01925 847700. Take photos especially if fish have perished, and to prove what has been done to the canal. Mostly we are not believed.
Some sections of the canal will be de-piked this winter.
We are offering a 5 year membership for 2004-2008 at £150 each year you will receive a new card. Send a cheque and a S.A.E. to the Ticket secretary before 31-01-2004.
Tickets for xmas match on Sunday 14th December are now in the shops for members to buy, £10 senior (inc pool ) , £5 junior both include lunch in pub before presentation.

The A.G.M is to be held next Wednesday 12th November at the Hollins Inn, Walsden at 7:30 pm promopt. Members only. There are no proposals to increase subs, but two to reduce subs for 'intermediates' aged 16,17 to half price. There is also a proposal to ban keep-nets from January to June. If you want to vote on items on the agenda or just to stand for office and help run the society next year , come along. All committe and officials are up for election, new blood is always needed and welcome.
The final match of the year is for members only and is the annual 'GRAND XMAS MATCH' to be fished on the Rochdale canal Summit downwards on Sunday 14th December. Draw up to 9:00 am at the Hollins Inn, with fishing from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Pie, chips and peas will be served back at the Hollins to all competitors ( included in the ticket price ). Tickets are now available from : Fish a' mania sowerby Bridge, Shy Bites ( Todmorden Market on Fri\Sat\Sun), Macks Burnley, Rochdale Angling, and Tight Lines Shaw. Ticket only. £10 seniors £5 juniors. All competitors win a prize. Prize giving at about 4:00 pm after senior and junior trophiy presentation to 2003 winners.
Last Sundays Pennine Winter League provided some good sport for the 84
competitors, with the winner netting 6 carp from the Gasworks Lock for a new
match record of 49lb 8oz.
