Winter Maintainance work

Will members ensure they tell somebody in the Society if they see a section of the canal drained or nearly drained-especially if fish can be seen in distress.

The work will now be done as follows-subject to any other changes which may occur to the B.W.B. plan of work!
Ornamental Bridge will be lowered commencing around 12noon tomorrow Thursday with fish being moved when water level is the right depth(maybe about 2p.m.)
Tench length will then be lowered commencing around 9a.m. Friday with fish moved when water level right.
All fish to go to Coppershouse section lock 24-25

Both sections were dropped before 11a.m. today.
Electro fishing of Ornamental Bridge took place from around 3p.m. until 4.30p.m. and a few fish were moved to Nehesco/Cross Keys sections.About 10 Carp,1 Bream,1 Hybrid, a Couple of Tench and about 24 bits.
Tomorrow Friday Tench Length will be electro fished commencing around 11.30a.m.

Tench length was electro fished in the morning of Friday. One member(President) was present for some of the time but had no containers to move the fish up so they were all put down into Library section. We think that both sections were lowered very quickly with a lot of fish goiing down through paddles before fish rescue attempted. Some Bream were present but not a lot else.

I think only one small Pike was moved from Ornamental Bridge-don't know about Tench lenght.I think most of the fish went down when paddles opened(fast probably) but BWB will not admit to that. Only 24 small fish in Ornamental would indicate that is what happened.
