Last weeks trophy match was fished at Croft Head by 14 members on a warm sunny day.
Result:

  2. Simon McKenna        7lb 14oz
  3. Tommy Dunn              7lb 7oz
  4. Dave Fort                    2lb 11oz

This was the final match in the series, all trophys will be presented at the Hollins Inn on Sunday 14th December at about 3:00 pm (after the Xmas match).

There is an open match on Saturday 18th October. Draw up to 8:30 am. Fish 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. £12 all in. All individuals welcome to fish, plus anybody wishing to practice for the Todmorden leg of the Pennine Winter League, which will be fishe on 26th October.

Cliviger top pond has been leaking for the last 3 years, and getting worse. The problem isserious now with the lack of rain and we are currently trying our best to sort the problem once and for all. The pond will fill up when heavy rain arrives, but we hope to have the leak repairedby then. Please bear with us.

Wlasden Printing Co. lodges are now only one, since the small one has been filled in, the fish have been moved to the large lodge, and the water is now refilling the large lodge. This water is renamed Ramsdenwood fishery.

The annual 'Grand Xmas Match' is on Sunday 14th December. Draw Hollins Inn, Walsden, up to 9:00 am. Fish 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Members only. £10 'all in' or £5 for juniors (excluding pool). After the match 'pie,chips&peas' will be provided (in ticket price) and all trophies will be presented, plus prizes for the match. The match will be fished Summit down. All ticket. Tickets available early November.

The last open match of this year will be on 18th October on the Rochdale canal, Fire-station down to Sewage Works, this match will also be a practice match for the Pennine Winter League to be fished on the same sections on Sunday 26th October. Members (and anybody interested in maintaining the quality of fishing on the Rochdale canal) should ring the B.W.B. if they see water levels falling for no apparent reason, or if they see any dead fish, or fish in distress (quantities of dead fish should be photographed as proof to B.W.B. that we have lost fish). The Tuesday evening series of matches has now finished with the last qualifier fished at Smithy Bridge on Tuesday 19th August.

The Tuesday Final for winner and runner-up of each qualifier was fished at the top end of the canal by 10 anglers on bank hoilday Monday evening. The winner of this match is crowned 'Tuesday Champion' and wins the pool pot for the final (£1 per angler per match over the series)

The penultimate Sunday trophy match was very hard with Croft Head very quiet. The weather was warm and calm, but the fish did not feed. 15 Fished.

Walsden Printing Co now consists of one water only ( the large one ) and is slowly being refilled with water after essential works to enable the small dam to be filled in.

Sundays trophy match was fished on the top pond at Cliviger by 16 members. Tony Lees landed two good Carp plus various smaller samples to win easily. Runner run John Mellor had two fish a 7lb 3oz Carp and a 4oz Perch.

Tomorrow Saturday 6th September the juniors have their last championship trophy match at Croft Head. Draw up to 1:15 pm. fish 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. £1 entry. Members only. For more details ring Dennis on 01706 817232 or just turn up at teh Croft at 1:00 pm.

This Sunday 7th september we have an open match on the Derdale to Sewage sections of the Rochdale canal. Draw up to 8:30 am. Fish 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.£12 all in. Ring 01706 650954 or 01706 290642 to book on.

Walsden Printing Company lodges are currently undergoing  some stabilisation work in connection with the houses which are to be build on the site of the old printing works. The small lodge has beed drained, the fish moved to the big lodge, and the small lodge is now to be filled in and made into a car park. The water level of the large lodge will fluctuate whilst work is being carried out. Alterations to inlet and outlet pipes are essential to ensure the future of the fishery.

T.A.S. committee meetings are held at the Hollins Inn , Hollins Rd, Walsden, Todmorden, on the first Wednesday of every month, with the A.G.M. on the 2nd Wednesday in Novenmber, all members are welcome to attend.
